OOTD: Summer Outfit for a Birthday Party

Hey everyone! Happy August! I am officially done with my summer courses, so that means I will be back on here with plenty of content. Last month, was my friend, Alexa's birthday, and I decided to try out a new outfit. The day before, I went to some local boutiques in my neighborhood to pick out some original pieces.

 My Outfit:
Tropical cropped shirt - Mixx Boutique $60 (a set that has matching shorts with it)
Tight Skirt with lace end - Cue Boutique $45
Espadrilles - Target $32

For the outfit, I "straightened" my hair. It's not pin-straight, but I love the look of wavy hair especially with my current shade. Since it's July, cropped tops and skirts are all the rage.

I wanted this outfit to be unique but stylish. I am very into patterns, Hawaiian shirts, and button-downs lately. When I saw the matching set, I knew I had to buy it. Although I haven't seen the last two seasons of Stranger Things, I know El (11?) is also really into crazy color button-down shirts, and I would love to copy her style. I feel like every girl should have a black skirt and a black dress, and I currently only have one of those essentials, so I am super excited to pair more bodysuits and shirts to skirt. I did end up going dancing after the birthday party, I switched into a gray tighter shirt with the black skirt (as it's high waisted), and loved that outfit too.

What are your favorite shops?

Easter 2019 Outfit of the Day

Hey everyone! Happy Earth Day! This post is far from talking about how to be more sustainable and how we need to start making drastic lifestyle changes to save this planet, but it is about the holiday I celebrated yesterday...Easter. Since it's Spring, I want to do a post about the environment, but that'll be in the future! As of today, I am getting back to my roots...and doing an outfit of the day. I have not done one of these in a while since I don't dress up often for school, nonetheless, I've missed sharing my outfits!

Yesterday, I celebrated Easter with my parents at Patrizia's of Williamsburg, which is an Italian restaurant located in Brooklyn that serves family style with a set menu. The atmosphere is very loud, but it's definitely a fun restaurant to go to. On Easter, everyone dresses up more or less, so I decided to pick out a bright outfit for the occasion.

 My outfit:
Royal Purple Koalafications Madison Skirt - Lilly Pulitzer
Sheer White Button Up - Cue Boutique
White Platform Sneakers -  Stradivarius
Gray Cardigan - Double Agent

Fun fact about the skirt: I recently purchased it because there is a party twice a year called "golf party" where everyone dresses up super preppy, and girls wear Lilly Pulitzer. Previously, I've never owned anything by this brand, but I've had friends who all they owned, was Lilly Pulitzer, Lulu Lemon, and Vineyard Vines. I definitely recommend this brand, but it is an investment since most of their items are higher priced.

Hope you liked this post! Check out my blog for other outfits of the day throughout the years.
This Fashion Girl will be turning 6 years old in the next few weeks, so there is a lot of content!

OOTD: Easter 2018

Hey everyone. Happy Easter! Today, I decided to dress up for the Holiday and do an OOTD. It's been a few years since my last Easter Outfit of the Day.

White Fluffy Coat - Begreh (a store in Braga, Portugal)
Striped Pants - Cue Boutique
Blue Eye Glasses - Rayband
Silver Hoops - Cue Boutique
White Scrunchie - Walgreens

I spent Easter in Williamsburg with my extended family. There were about twenty of us, and it was about four hours of food, laughter, and cake. The amount of sweets and sugar I have eaten in the last two days is actually ridiculous.

Rings- Stradivarius ( a Spanish brand)
Red beaded bracelet with cross - a gift from Italy

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter or just day (if you don't celebrate). Thanks for reading :)

My Trip to Portugal: Outfits

Hey everyone! I know it's been awhile since I last blogged. Although I write for so many different publications, my motivation has been at an all-time low to write. I've decided to get back into the groove of things by posting all about my trip to Portugal (March 16-23).

Usually, when I go on trips with my school, I end up wearing jeans and a t-shirt for most of the time, but this year my friends and I decided to go all out since it was our last choir trip. I also wanted to bring clothes that I really enjoy and take really cute pics to blog about. Here are some of my outfits from my trip to Porto and Lisbon.

Outfit 1

For my first day, I decided to go with a casual look. My group was walking a lot in the day, so I wanted something that I would be comfortable in.
Ripped Jeans - American Eagle Outfitters
Blue Polo Shirt
Navy Sweater with mid-sleeves - H&M
Blue and White Stan Smiths- Adidas
Sunglasses - Steve Madden
Blue, Purple, Black Jacket  - Thrifted from AuH20
Silver Hoops - Cue Boutique

Outfit 2
Black Turtle Neck - L.L.Bean
Gold Hoops
Sunglasses - Steve Madden
Jeans - American Eagle
White Fluffy Jacket - Begreh (a clothing store in Braga, Portugal)

In this photo, I am holding a pastry called a Nata, which was so cheap and so delicious. There will be more to come on my times in Portugal soon. :)

Outfit 3

The only big thing different between this outfit and the last is the jacket I am wearing. These photos were taken on the same day, except I had switched my jacket and my hair. This denim jacket is from Forever 21.

Outfit 4

If you can't tell, I was really into wearing black shirts with denim jeans this whole trip. I had four pairs of pants with me, and three of them were pairs of jeans. My thrifted jacket made another appearance on this day.

Outfit 5

Turquoise bag- Coach
High Waisted Jeans - American Eagle Outfitters
Black Boots - Steve Madden
Floral Shirt - Begreh
Jacket - Eddie Bauer
There was a night where my friend and I went out to dinner, and we found a red photo booth, so we just had to take photos in it. I had previously only thought England had red photo booths. The two of us had gone to a restaurant in Porto called 'The Tram' and had wanted to dress up for it.

Outfit 6

Two colored tights - Calzedonia
Black Boots - Steve Madden
Black Bralette - Brandy Melville
White Crocheted  Sweater - Cue Boutique
Red and Blue Sunglasses - a boutique in Braga

I really loved my outfit this day, My friend, Nikki, and I decided to dress up for our last day in Portugal so that we could get good pictures. I was a little bit fancier compared to the usual people who are spending the day sightseeing, but it was all in good fun.

I am happy to be blogging again! What are some other posts I should do in the future? More outfit posts?

OOTD: January 26, 2018

Hey everyone! It's been 20 days since I last blogged...which is terrible (I know!). January is such a dull month, and I haven't had the inspiration or motivation to blog. I truly do want to be able to have a schedule, but senior year is so draining sometimes. I am currently reading some books, and taking vocal and drawing lessons in order to bring back some creativity and inspiration in my life.

On Friday, my friend and I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art before going to a school event. I had a free dress day i.e no uniform because of senior privileges, so I decided to dress for an OOTD. The initial goal of the visit to my favorite museum was to see the David Hockney exhibit before it closes, but it ended up with me taking photos in the Greek and Roman section. I've been to this museum so many times that it's now second nature to me to have an adventure in there.

Here are my outfit and some photos:

My outfit:
Black Blouse - American Eagle Outfitters
Gray/Black Skirt - Zara (in Barcelona)
Floral Boots- Steve Madden
Black Tights

I am wearing sunglasses in the style that Kurt Cobain wore, also presently known as "clout goggles." Originally, I bought these sunglasses as a joke, but now I am really obsessed with them and love the look. They were $10 from a thrift store called, The Monk.

Some other photos...

David Hockney Exhibit

Other exhibits...
This stain glass window was shown to me by the six-year-old girl that I babysit, and I have loved it ever since. She and I sat in front of this window and drew the window because it was just so magnificent. I recommend going to see this stain glass window if you're ever at the Met.
I forced Sarah to take a picture of me in my favorite room of the Met wearing my future college's sweatshirt. Go, Friars!

I am so glad to be back into blogging! Hopefully, I will get out of this slump without inspiration soon.

OOTD: Thrift Shopping 11/25/17

Hey everyone! A few weeks back, two of my friends and I went thrift shopping in the East Village and Lower East Side of Manhattan. I've always liked the idea of thrift shopping, but I never end up buying many items. There are so many thrift stores in New York, so I am excited to start trying to find more items from these places. On November 25, I went shopping at AuH2O (Goldwater - located 84 E 7th street) and The Monk (located on 97 E 3rd street). I only bought two items, a blue and back flannel jacket and white sunglasses (now known as 'clout goggles' or Kurt Cobain sunglasses). There will definitely be photos of me wearing the sunglasses soon...(possibly on New Year's!).

                                                                             My outfit
Fake Ripped High-waisted Jeans - American Eagle Outfitters
Black and Blue Flannel Jacket  - AuH2O (thrifted for $17)
                                                             Adidas Stan Smith Sneakers
                                                    Long-sleeved black shirt - Forever 21

My grandmother had a huge scarf collection, so my pink roses scarf is from her.

Originally Nikki, Marina, and I went into The Cure (a thrift shop located on 111 E 12th street), and it is very nice in there, but the prices aren't really what we were looking for.  We found a fur coat that was over $300, so we decided that this place was a bit too expensive, but they had some very good pieces of clothing. Unfortunately, we weren't willing to pay those prices.

The Cure has very eccentric items of clothing. Unlike other thrift stores, such as L Train Vintage, they have a certain aesthetic of clothing they are trying to upkeep. Many of the pieces have bright patterns on them.

The Cure had everything from home decorations to sandals to ugly Christmas sweaters.

After going to The Cure, my friends and I went to lunch at Wagamama (located on 210 5th Ave).  We all got different orders of ramen. My order was ramen with tofu, sprouts, an omelette, and mushrooms. We also had edamame and a chicken dish for appetizers.

After we finished thrifting, Nikki and I went to ViVi Bubble Tea (located on 5002 5th Ave). This place's bubble tea is so good. We ordered our drinks with cotton candy on it, and there is a whole order on how to drink the bubble tea. I definitely recommend this place!

I hope you enjoyed this post. I plan on doing more posts similar to this because I love doing different activities in New York City.

Have you ever been thrift shopping? What places where you live do you recommend?

Halloween 2017 + Life Update

Hey everyone! I know it's been awhile, and I should've have posted yesterday to be back on track, but everything has been hectic lately. I've been very focused on my school work and applying for college, so I needed to take a small break from posting. As of now, I am finished with my applications (which is so scary!), and I am ready to back into the weekly schedule of posting on Sundays. There will be a few more posts to catch you guys up on my life, but get ready for your weekly posts again! On another note, I have been writing for Affinity Magazine, and GLUE Magazine to further expand my writing. Both are teen run magazines, and super fun to be apart of! You can see all my posts in the tab on the top of the page called, 'Other Places I Write'

Another reason why I haven't been posting lately is that I have been planning a feminism/gender equality summit at my school, and that has taken up a lot of my time. I am the co-president of my school's feminism club, which put me in the position to plan the summit, and it has been a lot of work but I am so excited for it. Some of the speakers are Maria Cuomo Cole, Doreen St.Felix, Jeannie Gaffigan, and so many other wonderful people. I can't wait to meet them, and write all about it!

Every year I write about Halloween (ex: 2015 and 2016) and this year is no different, despite it being a few weeks late.  This year, I dressed up as Steven Hyde from That 70's Show. The actor, Danny Masterson, has been accused of sexual assault recently, so as much as I am not a fan of him; Hyde is one of my favorite characters from the show.

My Outfit
Denim Jacket - Forever 21
Patched Jeans - American Eagle
Turquoise Socks - American Eagle (?) - purchased in 2015
Keith Richards for President shirt
Pink Sunglasses - Urban Outfitters
Gray Turtleneck - L.L. Bean
Adidas Stan Smiths

Picture of Steven Hyde from That 70s' Show

My friends and I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to take photos in our costumes.

Trudi was dressed as a fairy.

Marina was dressed as a character from Stranger Things (so...80s style).

Nikki was dressed up as a bear.

Almost everything thing I am wearing is my own. The only thing I borrowed was the Keith Richards shirt because the only band t-shirt I own is One Direction from 2013.

What did you dress up as for Halloween this year? I hope you liked this post, and I will be back with another one in a few days!

OOTD: 4th of July 2017

Hey everyone! I count Independence Day as the beginning of Summer (so does most of America I suppose), and I was able to spend the day with some friends. The 4th of July is filled with American Flags, Barbeques, music, and tons of memes. On television, there was a hotdog eating contest at Coney Island. A few of my friends and I went to a roof top to watch the sunset before going to the East River to watch fireworks.

                                             My outfit:
One shoulder dress- American Eagle Outfitters
Shoes - Adidas Stan Smiths $60

We waited for the firework show to start for over an hour and I might've been so annoying to the people around me that a couple moved away from my friends and I. My reasoning was that it was a public place so it was completely fine for me to start clapping when the show started or when any bright colors came. My friends and I might've also sang songs like: Party in the USA, Firework, and I'm Proud to Be an American...

When we are on the rooftop, we had a view of the whole entire city. The sunset was super beautiful, and it felt like a perfect summer night.

Here's a picture of Aubrey and I sitting on the roof.

It was very nice to see my friends and spend this holiday with them.

I hope all my Americans out there had a nice Independence Day. Although the country isn't perfect, it was a day to celebrate the freedoms our country was based off and acknowledge that we have ton more work to do. I was glad to spend it with my friends.

Happy 4th of July (one day late!)

OOTD: Golden Gate Park

Hey everyone! It's been awhile. This month I have traveled to California, Massachusetts, and Washington D.C. In California, I was able to visit San Francisco, Monterrey, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbra with my singing group from school. On the second day of the trip we visited Golden Gate Park and did a whole tour of the city of San Francisco.

Here is my OOTD:

My Outfit:
Bomber Jacket- American Eagle
Floral Shirt - American Eagle
Ripped Jamie Jeans - Top Shop
Sneakers - Adidas Superstars

I've been super obsessed with bomber jackets, and I finally was able to buy one! Mine was on clearance from American Eagle and cost about 36 dollars.

My friends and I took so many pictures by the Golden Gate Bridge because it was so sunny and beautiful that day. New York has been rainy and cold, and the sunshine was a change. I'm always unprepared for the weather when I go on trips, so there I was in long sleeves when it was very warm out.

I've been to San Francisco before ( you can check out that post here ) when I was 15, but this time I got to see even more and be with my friends. The Golden Gate Bride was so pretty, and interesting to learn about. Did you know that it was originally supposed to be painted black and yellow?

After visiting the Golden Gate Bridge we went to Sausalito (more photos coming soon). I was trying not to be too "tourist-y" but I had to take photos in from of the Golden Gate Bridge!

Check out my friend Nina (featured above!) on her blog: http://rainyday-writer.blogspot.com/

Lastly, this bomber jacket is officially my favorite jacket. The details of flowers on the back make it more unique. I like this jacket because it goes with any type of outfit especially jeans or leggings. I usually pair it with solid colors because then more attention goes to the jacket.

I am so sorry that I haven't been posting. I am on Spring Break, and I've been college touring. I know it's not an excuse to not be updating, but I have been motivated to blog again because more interesting things have been happening. Thanks for the support with this blog! I can't believe it's been almost 4 years!!

                                                                             xx
